Regulatory Assistance
With the environmental challenges in our highly competitive and highly regulated marketplace, compliance can be an issue . AEI’s comprehensive approach to delivering due diligence, site investigation and remediation, industrial hygiene and construction services assures clients they are managing their risks while meeting regulatory obligations in the most cost effective way possible. Occasions arise when additional regulatory assistance is needed. AEI’s national staff of experts can give compliance consultation and design plans for solving a host of issues regarding environmental regulations.
Consulting Reviews
When a client requires an expert evaluation of findings done by another environmental firm or to identify whether the report was completed in accordance with regulatory standards, AEI conducts a consulting or “peer” review. AEI’s team of environmental professionals provides these reviews on a variety of reporting subject matter including due diligence assessments, site investigation and remediation, and industrial hygiene.
UST Cleanup Fund (California only)
AEI provides consulting services in assisting clients for applying and receiving payment from the UST Cleanup Fund. Federal and state laws require every owner and operator of a petroleum underground storage tank (UST) to maintain financial responsibility to pay for any damages arising from their tank operations.
The Barry Keene Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund Act of 1989 was created by the California Legislature, and is administered by the California State Water Resources Control Board, to provide a means for petroleum UST owners and operators to meet the federal and state requirements. The Fund assists a large number of small businesses and individuals by providing reimbursement for unexpected and catastrophic expenses associated with the cleanup of leaking petroleum USTs.
In addition, the Fund also provides money to the Regional Water Quality Control Boards and local regulatory agencies to abate emergency situations or to cleanup abandoned sites that pose a threat to human health, safety, and the environment, as a result of a petroleum release from a UST.
Litigation Witness Support
AEI’s Industrial Hygiene and Site Investigation and Remediation divisions can assist clients with the technical support of a qualified environmental professional for litigation support. We provide expert witness services and report preparation in various testifying and non-testifying roles. Our experts have the ability to develop technical strategies in cooperation with the client and counsel, and perform background technical analyses for a particular site. |
